Accepted commitments must be verifiable

Statement

A commitment that matters should produce evidence that allows its fulfilment to be tested.

Rationale

A policy or contract that cannot be observed is little more than documentation.

Implications

Where practical, accepted commitments should be connected to executable validation, monitoring, provenance and evidence.

Human judgement remains necessary for some obligations, but the outcome and authority of those decisions should also be recorded.
